Trail Wave - Daily Training Sessions

At it's best, Trail Wave is silky smooth, offering unprecedented surfing opportunities for novice and advanced playboaters alike. There is perfect eddy service with a clean eddy line for catching the wave that novice paddlers will appreciate. It is the perfect place to learn how to surf as the foam pile is wide, smooth and generally friendly (unless water levels are low, which makes the feature more of a wave hole). For advanced paddlers, Trail Wave is a perfect training ground. The wave is so smooth and predictable that it provides the paddler time to think while learning tricks, yet these tricks must be executed precisely and with gusto for them to stick. It forces/requires good technique development.
APL Instructor, Brandon Willms, will be in the area from March 24 to March 31 and is booking 3 hour instructed sessions on any of those days (Water Levels Permitting!). These sessions will be tailored to the participants, with the general goal being to wipe off the cobwebs from the winter, have a ton of fun and start the summer season with a good foundation.
Examples of lessons we could cover:
- how to actively edge, lean, or engage the paddle to intentionally move around the face of the wave and setup for tricks
- how to flatspin without flushing off the wave
- introduction to the blunt
- how to drive aerial tricks even on a wave that isn't particularly dynamic
Time each day: TBD
We are offering sessions this way to be a bit flexible with both water levels and paddler availability.

The proceeds will all go toward enhancing playboating opportunities in Alberta
