Formed in 1973 by the O'Briens and cohort, EWP has a long tradition of youth development, high performance athlete development and memorable polo events. The O'Briens and their group of dedicated volunteers have created a stabile structure for sport to excel in Edmonton. EWP hosted the 2008 World Canoe Polo Championships and hosts the Cup of the North every February, which is the largest polo event in North America.
Many National Team athletes in polo, slalom and wildwater have come from EWP. Two slalom Olympians, David Ford and Roy Sharplin can also include EWP as part of their roots. |
