The Alberta Whitewater Association (AWA) is excited to kick off the 2021 season! 

After a tough 2020 we decided to kick 2021 off with a Membership Drive for the month of April. We have over $1500 in prizes to be drawn at random, May 2, from AWA members. The goal is to help our clubs retain members and get new members.

Thank you to Aquabatics, NRS, Level Six, Rocky Mountain Paddling Centre and Predator Helmets for the support! If anyone wants to add prizes before the end of the month, we are happy to promote them.

Whitewater Parks, Facilities and Access

Several major initiatives are in the works. 

Alongside Alberta River Surfing Association, AWA is working on upgraded features on the Kananaskis, the Cochrane Wave Project and Calgary River Wave Project. Some really cool modelling is being done with the University of Ottawa thanks to a grant and AWA funding.

We continue to advocate for better access and use of Harvie Passage and are working to help open access at the Ghost Dam. Other projects around the province are on the horizon.

Safe Sport

Sport Canada's goal is to make sport a safe place for all to participate. A new policy with a number of fairly simple steps, will help all AWA members feel more comfortable participating.
